IOS Webinar #10: Consequences of Oak Diversification On Gall Wasp Communities, & the Oaks of Lebanon

Event Date:
Tuesday, 25 November 2025

The IOS is pleased to announce our next virtual event, again co-hosted with the Global Conservation Consortium for Oak (GCCO), which will take place over Zoom at 9 am US Central Time on November 25, 2025

In this webinar we will first hear from Robinson Sudan, Doctoral Instructional Assistant at Texas State University, who will present "Mechanisms of Oak Diversification and Their Consequences for Oak Gall Wasp Communities". In this presentation, he will examine contemporary patterns of population genetic structure in oaks and oak-associated wasps, to understand the role of hybridization and niche differentiation in driving adaptation and ecological divergence.

During the second part of the webinar, Dr. Jean Stephan of the Lebanese University, Beirut, Lebanon, will share an overview of oak species in Lebanon. Following the presentations there will be Q&A.
